Default Noisy xc70 2.4D engine

I would be grateful for any ideas about the source of this engine noise.
XC70, 2004, 2.4D Engine 163bhp, 143000 mile, I have had the car 6 months.
The clutch and slave cylinder have been replaced and DMF will be done next week.

I've heard worn DMFs that sound like that.
You could put the car in 5th gear with the handbrake on and slowly lift the clutch to hear if the tone changes as the clutch engages or just wait until the DMF is replaced then check back.

Edit: Get the core plug replaced behind the DMF whilst they are in there. It will save revisiting the area.

You have a Euro 3 D5 btw engine code D5244T, not a 2.4D just to avoid confusion.

Thanks for correction on the engine, will see later this week if the DMF resolves this.

Still have the rattle, clutch, slave cylinder and dmf replaced. If anyone has any suggestions i am interested. The garage is suggesting gearbox related.

I have similar noise but a bit more quiet, goes away when I push the clutch pedal. Yours too?
I've been told it's probably the transmission input shaft bearing.
