Again, it is from the DUTCH government institution that e.g. decides if a car can be admitted to the Dutch roads (e.g. when I imported a motorcycle from Germany).

I always use other sites to link pics, but just found out that I can simply attach a PDF. So I did. I think it is legitimate but have long forgotten how I ever obtained it...

Well. I’ve officially owned it for just under 2 months, actually been using it for about half of that. My first foray into the world of Volvo hasn’t been what I expected!
Bought a 2006 D5 auto with 121k on the clock from a used car dealer.
It’s a one owner/ full dealer/ specialist history car.
Drove brilliant but after week one sometimes struggled starting.
Got it back to the garage I bought it from as it was diagnosed faulty injectors.
3 of the 5 were apparently faulty and sorted out.
Ran the car for another week and half, seemed okay then same thing started to happen again. Was gonna contact garage again on the Monday but on the Saturday before things got even worse.
On the motorway, something went clunk, load of smoke poured out the exhaust, car stunk of fumes and engine was rattling like crazy. Stopped immediately and got AA to get it back to the garage I got it from 90 miles away.
They had it another 2 weeks and apparently changed all sorts.
All the injectors, various sensors, dpf was cleaned out and got the call to collect it.
Let’s say reluctantly I booked a train ticket and picked it up.
On starting the car up I couldn’t decide if it was a bit noisier than I’d remembered or if I was just being over cautious.
I decided to set off and see what it was like. First 10 mins all seemed fine, then got on the motorway and there was a very slight judder as I accelerated.
It seemed a bit reluctant to change gear also. Carried on then the engine system check light came on quickly followed by soot filter full. Then it went in limp mode so I turned round and went back.
Mechanic came out to plug in diagnostic machine but I wasn’t having the car back at this point. No way!
Got my money back so now I don’t know what to do. Do I try another V70?
I’m kinda put off but everyone keeps saying how unusual for a D5 to go like that.
I’m going to look at a couple more today, a newer shape one aswell so fingers crossed.
Ones a manual, any thought on a manual D5?

Sounds like you've had rotten luck with the previous car :-(

I've had 2 manual V70 D5's, blooming great cars!
However, look for evidence of the clutch and DMF being changed from around 140,000 miles - dependent on the life it's had obviously.
The weakness with these is that the clutch slave cylinder in in the bell housing, so it's a gearbox off job if a seal fails. Mine's at 210,000 now and has no issues (with the drivetrain).

Ive taken the plunge again. This time with a newer model 2009/58 plate D5 auto R design. 108000 on the clock, full history.
Volvo specialist this time, so the windscreen has been removed and re bonded, a full service will be carried out and the all important timing/ aux belts and water pump. The big attraction ( as well as the way the car looks ) is the 2 year platinum RAC warranty. Especially after the rotten luck with the other car that was a no brainier.
Suppose I need to start posting in the other section of the forum from now on. Lol
I did look at a couple of older shape cars like the one I had but they were both scruffy. Liked the manual one but the auto box is just too easy.
Fingers crossed 2nd time round.
