Default Replaced ETM, light back on again.

Hi Guys,

I've been reading a lot of this forum recently to find answers to my C70 problems, but this is my first post so 'hello' to you all.

I had the typical symptoms of ETM failure so I've just replaced the ETM and had it programmed by volvo. Driving back from the garage this morning the car is back to full speed once again, but half way home the ETM light came on (again, sigh) and the cruise control won't work. Any ideas what it might be now?

All the connections looked good, the car's driving well and like I say, it's just had a brand new ETM.

I'd be grateful for your suggestions.

Cheers,

Mark

check the 3 turbo vacuum pipes very very closely. I had a split one right by the turbo that gave all the ETM symptoms. fine as long as I didin't floor it, then I got limp home and the ETM light.
The other thing is, ETM replaced, then straight back to the garage, as they haven't fixed it.

I had the same thing on my C70 (although my ETM was faulty too). Had the ETM replaced and seemed fine for a week or so (although didn't pick up speed that well), then the ETM light came back on, took it back to Volvo they spent an hour on it and found a leek in one of the boost pipes as the jubilee clip had rusted and eaten into the pipe!

just inspect the hoses very carefully. The larger pipes tand to come off sometimes, so just make sure they are secure.

the small boost pipes (3x) tend to split. I used 4mm samco for these and it didn't work. Changed for petrol hose and it was all great. remember rubber hoses split with age, so if they haven't been done, just replace them with some new. time you mess around testing and checking you might as well.
