O/s/f door speakers
Hi all
Got a 2010 v70 2.4 the front door speakers haven't worked for a while, but not had time to sort them. Now that I got 3 weeks of spare time think they need sorting. Anyone got any ideas of why and how to fix would be much appreciated |

Hello!
I've replaced ALL my door speakers in my 2008MY after they ALL blew. This was before my ownership. They were the Dynaudio ones too. They are CRAZY money new, interestingly not crazy money from Volvo but still a pretty penny. I replaced my rears with woofers, and my fronts with mid/woofers. Not with genuine but "decent" ish ones with low impedance from Amazon! Sound really quite good - especially with AUX/CD with Dolby. You do need to try and match impedance if possible - the factory speakers are very low impedance, and the amp is set up for this accordingly. Throw in something cheap and nasty and the amp will struggle to power them well. The install is quite easy - Pop off the cap behind the door handle. Undo the one (on the rear doors, two on front doors) torx T30/25 (can't recall...) and then "pop" the door card off. I used a trim removal tool the first time - snapped one clip straight away! Then used my fingers....much better! The door release is cable driven - the cable clips out of the rear of the handle. Disconnect the loom (by the door handle) and lift up and away. Door speakers are rivetted in to door - Three I think? Drill them out. Disconnect speaker from bottom (quite tight). Lift whole assembly out. Under the foam surround there are smaller torx (T20?) holding the speaker in to the surround. Feel round (there's five or six equally spread out) and undo them all. Speaker will then come out ONCE you've snipped the wires going to the connection socket. Fit the new speaker - solder from the tags onto the socket, screw in new speaker, rivet back in place (do rivet as screws/nuts may shake loose), connect and re-assemble. I thought this was a rare issue but apparently not - How all four of mine blew/failed I just don't know?! I've probably got some video/images if that helps?
