...I mean there's 75 quid of oil in it that's just gone in and a tank of petrol, my 'new' CD player. I could make a fortune on this car

It takes 0W 30 fully synthetic - 6 litres of the stuff at £15 a go ish. Add to that the oil filter and holder I bought.

I've bought the same oil from Opie Oils in Cornwall and it still cost me roughly that amount for Castrol Edge Magnatec.

My last T5 was leaking so much oil from the turbo oil pipe I had to drive to London and back with 20 litres of the stuff in the boot. When I got back the warning light was on and I had none left - should have got the train (First Class and stayed in a central London hotel - and got a show in).

I bought 6 litres of Castrol fully synthetic oil for mine, at a cost of £60, from the local station.
If I had more time, I would more than likely have been able to get it online for a bit less.

Currently using up the remains of a 50 litre tub of 0/30W synth bought from our local Indy Volkswagen outlet which cost £78 for the tub!!

I still have over 25 or more litres left after changing the oil in my V70 & C70 as well as my son's '92 Eunos/MX5 - plus top ups.

Shop around and thou shalt find quality oil! :

I would have, but just got home from a job overseas and didn't have time to search for a good deal.

I will make sure I have more search time, before the next service, in about 10 months time.

Do you have any recommendations Gary for a restorer product to treat the textured plastic strip which runs along the top of the bumpers and the middle of the doors?
Mine is badly faded with white/grey discolouring too so shining it alone would be no good.

You can recolour the trim with a product such as Solution Finish, which gives good results.

You can also use a trim restorer like G-techniq C4, that can last up to two years before reapplication is required.
It is expensive at about £25 for 15ml, but can do at least one to two cars and is only required every couple of years.

Another solution is to 'sweat' the plastic with a hot air gun, as it brings some of the oils out of the plastic, to the surface, but overdoing this can make the trim very brittle.

My last treatment was Autobrite Endurance tyre and trim dressing gel. Works very well.
