The previous models were controlled by a spring.
These newer ones look similar, I have not taken a newer one apart so cannot confirm if they are still spring controlled though seeing some videos of people using rubber bands to keep them in the extended position suggests they could well be.

what i meant was is the washer stalk in a fixed position, or can it be adjusted inward and outward so when closed the cap isnt as tight against the bumper. i have visions of fitting this new one and once i let go of the stalk it will retract too far into bumper and pop the cap off again, or am i wrong on this.cheers

For goodness sake, get on and fit it. You are in control, you are there, in front of it. tem.

I pulled the fuse on these jets a long time ago - the position and shape of the lenses mean they don't get dirty (at least on XC60) and I went through gallons of fluid with them.
The dealer has even stopped refitting the fuse when servicing the car now

once fitted i think the fuse will be pulled. i thought they only worked once every 5 washes, on my car it seems more or does it matter which headlight setting i have on.

From memory, the fuse for the headlamp washers on a V60 is in a fuse box, underneath another fuse box.
It is a workshop job to get at it. tem.

After my problem with the XC60, I asked the dealer to remove the fuse on the V60 and they refused to do it, due to the time involved. Fortunately, with the two V60's that I owned, I never lost a headlamp washer cover. tem.

I find it rather difficult to believe that it is a dealer task to replace a fuse as that is the implication of the statement - is the suggestion really that you need the dealer to undertake a lot of work to replace the fuse on the lower board? Dont you simply unplug the top board, remove the fuse and replace the top board - why would they design headlights that can be removed in seconds to replace bulbs and make a more prabable task such as replacing the fuse a dealer actictivy?
