Default Clonk from transmission

Folks, just a quickie:

I run a '99 V70 XC AWD auto. When cruise shuts down or I nail it (auto transmission) I get a 'clonk' from the underside of the car. it can be felt through the seats. There is no extra vibration, noise or ill effects apparent. AWD works fine when needed and tests OK.

I swap front and back tyres around every 5 -> 6000 miles to try to avoid uneven wear.

Any ideas as to what this 'clonk' could be?
