I'd be very grateful for advice from anyone who knows how to reduce the brightness of the centre display panel on a 2022 XC60. (I've tried forum searches and internet searches, but have drawn a blank.)
TIA |

Does it not dim with the thumb wheel along with the rest of the dash? Mine does. Then sometimes for even less distraction I turn it off with a long press on the main button.

I have a S60 and have found that the dash doesn’t dim during the day but at night or on a dark day, the thumb wheel operates and the brightness can be adjusted to suit.

Yeah, thumb wheel only works when it’s dark (not when lights are on).

But in theory it should not be too bright if it is daylight hours.
Finding the centre screen too bright should only really be likely in the dark, then you can dim with the thumb wheel, or even turn it off as I do.

[Doh! You mean the on/off switch in the centre of the 'volume' knob. Yes, that's the nuclear option.] Last edited by dconvoy; Dec 16th, 2021 at 14:25. |

That's certainly true in the summer; but on winter afternoons in the UK, the ambient light levels can be quite low inside the car, and the glare from the Centre Display (especially when showing the Google Maps display) is pretty distracting.

I just had this email reply from the Volvo Digital Support team:
"Unfortunately it is not possible to adjust the screen brightness in the Centre Display, this should adjust automatically depending on lighting conditions. While this feature isn't currently available, I will of course make a note of your feedback here for our Product Follow-Up Team." So it looks like the plan was for the display brightness to adjust automatically according to the ambient light level, but this hasn't been implemented. Of course, the whole display does switch to the 'night-time theme' when the light level is very low; but that's not the same as the planned, but unimplemented, continuous adjustment. Another missing feature for the 'watch this space' box! Oh, and for information, we have a 2022 XC60 B4 AWD (Diesel) Momentum. Thanks to eveyone who took the trouble to reply! |
