My advice: list all error codes exactly.

Reading VIDA is sometimes more cross diagnostic, especially if the errors are mixed or misleading.

Without having the codes, it's the same as before. Sorry!

But replacing filter is cheap and simple, at least you will illuminate thatl

Sounds like a hard error rather than intermittent so should be easier to diagnose.

I am going thru some terrible issues at the moment. Recon engine, faulty turbo but hope to sort in next couple of days. Sometimes it feels that the car will never be right..

With the help of the Forum (and a wad of cash) you will get there

I'm pretty certain that there isn't a code which states Camshaft or MAF sensor faulty so what were the exact fault codes?

Ecm 130a, ecm130c, ecm 3000.

Just seems strange that both the camshaft sensor and MAF are posting faulty signals at the same time.

The car was running beautifully one day and next day not..

I popped into Volvotech Nomansland today and spoke to Jim who I have known for many years, and he suggested the fuel filter would be the first thing he replaced, so will give that a try before sending it off on the flat bed.

New fuel filter fitted and no change.

Car belching black smoke running on 4 cylinders, difficulty revving, engine vibrating badly at idle. Smoke coming out of the oil filler cap.

I think it might have jumped the cambelt, hence the clattering for a minute or two when the problem first came to light.

If I end up needing a replacement D5 engine, will a D5 engine out of an automatic XC90 fit my manual car?

Many thanks in advance, Mark.

Check the timing marks first which is simple enough on a Euro 3 D5.

If the timing is good, then consider the other options offered by Vida for the fault codes you've obtained so far.
