Electric seat issue

So just last week I swapped out my drivers seat for a one in better condition.
I followed advice I had googled on the correct way to do this (electrics off for 10 mins, reconnecting in ignition pos 2 etc,etc ) and the swap went relatively fine.

For the last 2 days the seat has intermittently decided it won't respond to the electric switches to move it. Sometimes it works fine, others it doesn't.
I tried the forum search function but it didn't throw up anything that helps.

In addition to this I have also got the boot lock refusing to activate issue (need to hit it with a hammer to free it to close).

Is it likely these issues (both started at exact same time) are related and if so any ideas on what the issue is and how to fix?

you need to fit the original controls from the 1st seat
