96/97 dashboard question
So, long story short, the car had a freak accident a few years ago (roof fell on the windshield and dashboard) and ever since then the whole driver's side dash has dropped about 2cm.
As you can imagine the whole dash rattles but only recently we've decided to try and do something to fix this. I've googled left and right for dashboard removal and things like that. The problem I have now is that I cannot find what holds the edge of the dashboard to the bottom of the A-pillar. We've managed to loosen up the side a bit more by removing some of the bolts on this side and I took a peek through the gap I've highlighted http://imgur.com/a/6r4Rb . Inside I can't see any bare bolts, just a 3/4cm plastic part that looked like it had been cracked. Now, my question is how can I get to that? I cannot find anything searching here or Google. If anyone has any pictures of this or has had to deal with something similar, I'd really appreciate the help. Last edited by theravenousbeast; Jun 14th, 2017 at 12:21. |

I also have this gap. I added sticky backed foam / felt at one point inside of the left vent.
The dash isn't directly connected to the a-pillar. This is a terrible album of pics from when I removed a buddies dash to access his heater core when he was parting it out, maybe you'll see something of value. Sorry bad pics. http://imgur.com/a/bnzfH

Well the only thing we can think of is drilling a small hole through the edge of the dash and the steel and either put a screw there or a wire and tighten it.
I highlighted the approximate place where I'd do that http://i67.tinypic.com/1zh2noo.jpg, only I'm not sure whether there's any wiring or something underneath that. |

I tried wiggling the whole left side up and down but that part didn't move. I'm guessing somewhere on the left something must be broken? |
