LPG car Tax Info !

Just spent half a day messing around with DVLA / local post offices trying to Tax my car as duel fuel ...

To cut a very long story short...

This can ONLY be done by your local DVLA office, they have to
approve your MOT, and LPG certificate.
It cannot be done at your post office, however if your log book already states Duel fuel it can be taxed anywhere.

Did not want anyone else waisting their time, it has not been an easy process ...

Sorry, why would you want to tax your car as dual fuel?

It's cheaper on 2001-onwards cars as it's classed as "alternative fuel", it's only a bit cheaper though......

Also you do not pay conjestion charge in London ....

Does anyone know if they have plans raise Tax on LPG in this years Budget ?

Yes it is going up exactly the same as petrol and diesel, i.e. the 3p rise staggered across the next 12 months.

A (pleasant) visit to the new DVLA office Leeds to get Abraham taxation status changed stalled as I was not in Abraham, and so had not got the petrol vel with me. They insist on exchanging the vel, even though I was not seeking a rebate.

Rules are rules, and the lady was very nice. I have 8 months to "call again"

Ah well!

Perhaps I could sneak through the chunnel before then!

I have gone through the Tunnel with a (shhh) V6 Freelander before it was gassed, on the way back from Belgium in the days (2000) when buying there was viable. I thought they PNC'd (or equivalent) you as you approached the booth. My filler is invisble.

Sorry - was only dreaming - I usually exit England via Immingham and DFDS Tor Line. Perhaps after next Thursday I should stay in Norway for ever!
