Default D5252T Alternator bracket

Hi all,

Does anyone have a diagram showing how the bracket that holds the alternator and power steering pump is attached to the engine? I'm trying to change the alternator, I've got the alternator off and it's iust sitting there loose but I can't get it out as it is blocked by the bracket. I keep finding more bolts holding the bracket in place, including 2 I got from underneath the car, but I am obviously missing some as it is still rock solid and will not move at all. I'm planning to try to recondition the alternator so I've got to the point now where I am trying to strip the alternator while it is still under the bracket but that is proving tricky as well as the access is not good. I was not expecting all this trouble just removing an alternator!

Any help will be gratefully received,

Mike

Mike , What is wrong with your alternator , the stator windings and diodes on the ends rarely fail . You can remove the voltage regulator and brush assembly on a D5 without loosening the alternator and these are common failures. Bearings and pulley assembly are also common failures , I would be buying a used unit rather than fixing this part as you can sometimes get a complete alternator for £25 .

Move the PAS pump out the way, Undo the alternator, slacken the bolts for the aircon pump and wiggle it out. If needs be take the top hose out the way to. Ive done a few that way.
