Default Sorry folks wrong place.K reg 240!

WRONG SECTION SORRY! NOT FOR SALE.

Hi all just lately I have been noticing a rather large amount of volvo 240's up for sale as well as 740's.But an awful lot of the nice condition ones are 2.0 litre or automatic.both things I wouldn't go for.Yes I have a 2.0l auto in my 240 estate and yes I love driving it but after driving my 2.3l manual 740 estate it's just so much more powerful and more economical to drive.

I also have a K reg 240SE estate which is 2.3l and five speed manual.Am I lucky enough to have a late reg 2.3l manual as most of this year appear to be 2.0l and auto?

Just wondered really!it also does actually have antilock brakes which were hardly ever fitted as I think they were an optional extra when ordering. There are exceptions I know as they were getting rid of as many parts as possible and you could specify anything at the end of production.

Anyone else got a J or K or L with 2.3l and manual.
Picture taken not long after getting it home.I was introducing it to my other cars Lol,It's the white one on the left.

Left to right.
240SE 2.3l manual K reg,
240SE 2.0l auto J reg,
740GLE 2.3l manual H reg.

Thanks Brian.

Hi yes I agree with the ABS.I have ABS on the Limo and it's very unnerving.Judder Judder pedal pushing your foot up off the pedal all in a matter of seconds.I stomped on the pedal just to experience it and hope I don't have to do it again.I have my own inbuilt abs it's called easing off just before locking up.Non turning wheels equals no braking resistance. So as soon as you start to slide it looses all traction.

Plus the unique way the brakes are plumbed on the 240 means it's dual circuit so safer by design.Antilock system has to be plumbed differently so isn't duel system.

Does yours have the other little differences?Interior lights different extra little speakers in the rear doors.Torq screws everywhere?

I still haven't found the fuel pump relay?it's not in the same place as my J reg 1990.And the wiring seems to be different too.
Regards Brian.

I have a 2.0 with manual and ABS, I'd much rather have had the 2.3 and non-ABS, but I had to take what was available after I pranged the last one! I agree the 2.0 can't hold a candle to the 2.3, and while I've not had a problem with the ABS YET, I'm sure the day is coming, and I'm sure it'll prove nigh-on impossible to find repair parts for it.

1993 seems to have had a bunch of changes in the wiring, my fuel relay's right up the back behind the glovebox.

Hi wooble I looked there but expected it to be in the exact same position as my 1990 one.is it still the same as the earlier white ones?
Someone once told me some had the relay on the drivers side behind the dash?
I got this one for the grand total of £4.99 yes thats four pounds and ninety nine pence! It was a real mess all covered in needles from a tree it was parked under for a year and a half.It was greenish black in colour. It also had a dog sleeping in it for sometime as it smells and was covered in dog hairs. When I went to fetch it I just put a new battery on it and drove it onto the trailer with no exhaust.I hope one day to sort it out.First I need a cat as it has to have one because of it's age.Anyone got a secondhand one?

It just ticked all the boxes so I was very happy to get it.
Regards Brian.
