Help with next engine mods for more power
Hey folks
Well i’ve been enjoying my 850 t5 for the past 6 months but getting a little bored and could do with more power. Currently it has the following mods/specification: 1996 - 850 T5 White injectors M4.4 ecu with map Manual Poly engine and gearbox mounts. Mileage is around 154k. Everything feels very strong. I’m thinking the next stage would be an 18t turbo? Any thoughts/recommendations would be most appreciated! |

The steps to more power from your 850:
. Larger turbo - ideally with angled outlet - 16t /18t / 19 t or KKK(P2 R) . Exhaust manifold - upgrade to japanifold off P2 T5/Rs . Exhaust - 3" down pipe matched to turbo outet with 100/200 cel sports CAT and 2.5" or larger cat back . Injectors - VXRs 470cc . Intake - do88 or similar maf to turbo, do88 or similar/larger intercooler . Port, polished & reconditioned head . Forged bottom end (standard T5 con rods WILL bend over 300bhp sooner or later) . Full stage zero inc TPS . D5 Oil cooler . Remap . Meth - if your feeling keen! That should see you reliably hit 300/330/350 bhp, possibly more, depending on your turbo choices and the existing wear on your engine and how far you go with the mods. You should also budget to upgrade your suspension, brakes, and fit an R clutch, Limited Slip Diff plus a get a good set of performance tyres to deal with the power. Or not. But if you dont you'll never release the potential. Do it properly and you wont see much change out of £10k. But you'll have a proper weapon. Can also be done more cost effectively if you buy the bits as they come up on sale or via ebay & are willing get the spanners out to do the work yourself , but it'll take time, probably save 50-60%. Have fun, cheers, Morgan Last edited by Shinsplintz 101; Mar 25th, 2020 at 22:54. Reason: Rubbish grammar |
