Default Dashboard central triangle display

I run an S80 diesel (53 plate).

The triangle symbol in the centre of the dash currently remains lit when driving. The display colour is red. In support of this symbol I would expect to see a message in the display unit but there is no message displayed.

This symbol on display will cause an MOT failure.

Any suggestions as to what I should be looking for to rectify this? Fluid levels under the bonnet are all fine.

Assume your lower left display shows things like 'door open' etc? Have you flicked through the menu to see if there is a message that's just been dismissed?

Possible failing DIM? - are these still an issue on a '53' car (I know '03' is).

Are you able to access vida to read codes?

If the triangle is red, there is always a message on the DIM - so as above, it looks like your DIM is faulty. May try looking with a flash light from close at the small display.

As said, uou can have a bad door switch, but you can also have a low coolant message and so on. Try locking all doors with the fob, see if the dash red LED starts blinking. I would hesitate driving the car until you know the reason for the red triangle.

Thanks for the inputs, folks. I shall have another run through things tomorrow.

I had to go out today (shopping and medications) and the triangle displayed in yellow.

The lock fob is not working properly so I need to lock/open the car by key.

I have Voda/Dice available but the machine is date locked (as in out of date).

I'll see what tomorrow brings.

You can edit the date in the patch to something later, it will then work.

"You can edit the date in the patch to something later, it will then work."

I have heard that this approach is something that can be tried.

From the computer side, I am a mainframe person. Desktop and laptop machines are just 'black boxes' to me when this sort of technical input is needed. Help, please.
