Default Volvo service cost

Just went on the Volvo website and got a quote for a main dealer service plan for a V40 D2 and it gave me a quote of £182 per month for 3 months followed by £115 for 16 months for an annual mileage of 20,000 on a 36 month plan.

Why so high? Seems absurd really. Especially when this doesn’t include brake pads and discs.

My current service plan at Nissan is £20 per month in comparison for the same annual milage. I wanted to return to Volvo as I love the cars but with those servicing costs it makes no sense.

What's the service interval on a D2? Assuming it's 18k and 4 services based on miles thats 4 services. £600 per service does seem high. Age of car, thus nature of service is a factor as is when the contract is purchased. As an indication I bought a 5 year contract on my new V90 for £500 (now £599). I bought a 2 year plan recently for a low mileage s/h Hyundi ix20 and it was about £670.

Service for my D2 Volvo V40 is every 12,000 miles or 1 year , whichever is soonest. I’ve been a Volvo driver for over 30 years starting out in 144s and 240,s and had most models along the way. Servicing has always been a bit more expensive. However at present I feel it’s ridiculous.

Go to an Independent Volvo Specialist. They’ll service it at a fraction of the cost & it won’t affect your warranty, assuming its still under warranty.

I got my car serviced & MOT’d for £260 including VAT & labour (Volvo Specialist). That was for an oil change, pollen filter, software updates, MOT & a wash. This was the same 13 year service that Volvo were going to do, as I rang them beforehand to find out what was actually required if I was going to service it with them.
