Default P0352 and P0353 Pending Fault Codes

Hi there.

I have a Volvo V50 (Petrol 2009) that I left parked, nose down on a fairly steep hill (in case it is relevant) on Saturday, when it was pretty cold and damp.

I tried to drive it at about 10PM and it really struggled to start.

When I did, the engine was really lumpy (like one of the cylinders was not firing) and a real lack of power.

I was only a couple of miles from home so managed to struggle home and left the car for a couple of days, without switching it on.

I have just started the car and it started without any issues at all.

I have an OBD2 device which I have just checked with an app called Torque Lite.

There are no issues under "Show logged faults" but when I press "Show pending faults", it has the following:

* P0352 - Ignition Coil B Primary/Secondary Circuit

* P0353 - Ignition Coil C Primary/Secondary Circuit

The question, now is what to do.

1. Is this a random issue that I can ignore and carry on using the car as per normal?

2. Is there an issue that I might be able to test or even fix myself?

3. Should I get a mechanic to have a look?

Any pointers would be very much appreciated.

my first call would be check the battery and alternator volvos dont like low voltage an can throw all kinds of misleading codes get the codes read with a good diagnostic tool as some of the app based systems for phones can sometimes be difficult for some to understand/interpret good diagnostic willsend you straight to the fault.

Hi there.

Thanks for the pointer - I have checked the battery and it seems that it is fully working as expected.

However, I took the engine cover and noted that one of the coils (second from the left) has a split in the covering (pics attached) Is this what might be causing the issue?

I have started the car again, without issue, this morning so it remains an intermittent fault.
