Default Swirl flaps connecting rod

Hello everyone got myself a 2006 v70 d5 yesterday with a blown intercooler. Today I replaced the intercooler with a brand new unit. All went well took for test drive and drove really well with bags of power. When I got it yesterday it has the engine service light on dash a quick read on here and Someone suggested that if the swirl flap linkage rod was off that could throw that fault, I checked and it was so put it back on now the car won't start just turns over and over, when I stop trying to start it there is a buzzing coming from the housing where the linkage rod is and also from the passenger side near the air box I'm totally at a loss as I'm new to modern cars after only having pajeros mainly any help would be great thanks

The buzzing sound will be the stepper motor that controls the swirl arm actuator. They wear out over time and even if you put it back on, it'll fall off. Other then taking half the engine apart, your best bet will be to repair it with a new swirl arm (part number 31216460 or 8692676 depending on what model you have) and the swirl arm repair kit, part number 31293291.

However, I've never known this issue to stop the car from starting. Mine's currently broken and the only symptom other than the warning light is a loss of power. Maybe somebody else could chime in here.

You have bought someone else's problems . The loud buzz from near the air filter when you turn off is the gear teeth stripped off the throttle unit due to the plate sticking in the soot build up inside ,
The swirl motors are very reliable , it might need calibrating . Or has the rod fallen off again and jammed it ?
