Default Volvo on call

I went to look at an 08 XC90 today that had Volvo on call. What would that give me on an 08 car, is it a good thing to have?

Thanks

OnCall is a safety system that calls automatically when you crash the car and airbags go off
(over simplified)

It is a subscription service.

It also gives you a few features via an app. In 2008 quite limited, but some exist.

That's interesting, thanks. I saw reference to an app when searching online but I couldn't see anything about it in the owners manual.

its actually two systems, SOS and On Call. The SOS system which will call out if you're in a crash, or you press the button to summon help, is subscription free. The On Call can give you access (via an app on your phone) to tasks such as locking/unlocking the car remotely, sending map destination etc.. It can also be used to remotely unlock your car for you if you've lost your key. You can speak to the On Call people, and I (guess) ask them for some information - but to be honest not sure what they can do for you!

Great, thanks. So probably not something I would hold out for but sounds like it could have it's uses if it happens to be fitted
