With regard to the above - the Volvo suspension is likely to be softer than the German designed Skoda.

When reading these threads - keep in mind that 18" wheels on a XC60 will be 60 profile tyres, 18" wheels on a V60 I think are 40 profile. The effect of that will be to reduce the springing given by the tyre by probably 50%.

As a general rule, that's probably true but the Superb is known to have quite soft suspension. There is a bit of particularly undulating road we regularly drive on nearby; in the Superb, going over the crest of the hills would always elicit a groan from everyone as the car lurched and your stomach came up to greet you.
In the V60, not a peep, it stays much more level.

A very good point.
The V60 on 20" wheels has a 35 profile.

Also worth considering is the high price and lack of choice in the 20" tyres. But running a Volvo was never going to be cheap...

That´s correct. My S60 has 40 profile.

Default For softer ride??

Honest John recommends all seasons tyres for softer ride, softer compound for colder weather apparently
