S90 D4 2017 - On Call problem
Hi All,
I have a problem with the pop-up notification “On Call service required”. What happened is, I’ve basically purchased a used S90 and then went to the Volvo service to do an update of the map - no problems at this point. When I went back to pick up my car, the guy in the service told me they can’t do an update for me as I’ve got broken VCM module (vehicle connectivity module) and cause I don’t have the warranty anymore, fixing this thing costs £1000. So, it’s basically bull****, as when I left my car there everything was fine with it. All of that happened December last year. Unfortunately, due to some private stuff and COVID, I didn’t proceed with any legal steps. Currently, the biggest problem is this notification saying “On Call service required” (every time I switch on my car). I can use the Volvo app to check travel information or I can send an address to the car, but it works a bit slow. For example, sending an address will take 5 mins and, in the meantime, it will say “We’re waiting for Volvo”. When I do diagnostic from the app, I get the information that there is no connection to Volvo (all started happening from December last year). So basically, the app says there is no connection, but some data must be stored. I’ve read on some forums that it’s quite a common problem, probably caused by faulty module or software. If you have a warranty, the can exchange this module VCM or its battery (I’ve read that some people had it changed 3 times in the 2 years..). Unfortunately, the only technical note I found is this: https://www.volvotechinfo.com/index....2016-10-11.pdf Apparently, this problem usually occurs during a system update. I don’t want to pay this amount of money for the phone app module. From the other hand, this notification is killing me too. Any advice on this? |

Contact Volvo customer services and explain everything to them and see if they can contribute to the cost of repair, you have nothing to lose by doing this.
