Default T5 or d5?

Looking for these following cars

S60 , s40 or v50

I'm thinking either d5 , t5 or 2.0t petrol

Mainly d5 or t5

What do people think? Of course better fuel economy is wanted but the t5 is tempting me most

probably better expanding on that as its quite vague. What will you be using it for, distance etc etc just saying ....

D5 for some power but taking into account mpg

T5 for the power but not great mpg

wouldnt really consider the 2.0 petrol unless its just a work horse, lacking in mpg and power but for durability.

As you can see they all have their benefit and would depend on your requirement. But if it helps, I have an S40 T5 and love it.

What do others think?

Wouldn't buy any of them. I would buy an xc70 D5, but that's me and you did ask.

I don't think much of the S40/V50 era of Volvo's as these were pretty naff comapred to the early Volvos. I assume you are referring to 2004-2010 ish generation of cars.

I'd get an S60 out of the lot. Better interior, larger car, comfy and easily available in D5 trim and the T5's do crop up and go really well if running spot on.

I do 800-1000 miles a week in 2000 C70 T5 auto. I do not drive for economy but easily avevrage 38mpg on a motorway run and around 32mpg between fills of mixed motorway and urban traffic with the return run daily being terrible M25 and Berkshire traffic.

As for a 2.0 petrol, why anyone would get one rather than a T5 is beyond me as you only have to press on harder to make the 2.0 shift therefore making the difference in fuel economy neglible.

The S60 D5 would be my pick personally. However, if a T5 is temping you most, why not get one? Its your car & your choice at the end of the day.

However, why not have a test drive in each one to see what you think? That'll give you more of an idea of which one is best for you. I imagine there will be some examples for sale either in a garage or privately fairly local.

if you have disposable income - T5 - if not D5 (only get manual of either, unless you are getting it cheap)
