Default Remote locking problem

Hope someone can help.

I have an S40 T4 & just lately when me or my wife go to lock or unlock the car nothing happens when you press the appropriate button on the remote. We each have our own keys & they are both playing up so I assume that it isn`t the remote batteries, although I haven`t checked either of them.

About two years ago we lost our only key & had to have a complete new gizmo (sorry I am not a mechanic so don`t know what it was) under the bonnet & two new keys & fobs from Volvo,it cost me a fortune, but I would imagine that it wouldn`t be that with it only having fairly recently been renewed.

Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks,Dave.

Try changing the batteries in both fobs and see how you get on. If it's not the batteries then you may need to reprogramme the fobs at the main stealers but it's highly unlikely both are giving trouble at the same time. Remember, there's something like a five meter range from fob to car!

BTW...I believe the batteries are CR2016 or DI2016

Good luck...

Just above your pedels there is the panel that is like a shelf, take the screws out and take off that panel.Behind there you will find a big grey box with 2 multi plugs in it,this is the keyless entry system box.Pull the wires out and leave it for an hour. This will reset the keyless entry system and it may sort it out,got 2 be worth a try before spending any money again! I had an R reg s40 that needing resetting once in a while. You can still use the car while it is unplugged but you will have no alarm or central locking
Hope this helps!!!
