I know it may be stating the obvious, but have you changed the HT leads/plugs?

Thanks for your reply - it may seem obvious to you but a great help to me, will sort the weekend.

We noticed today when we opened the bonnet to remove the MAF and whilst the car was still running was that the engine really bounces - is this normal?

Please excuse my ignorance - I really am no car mechanic as you can tell. Thanks for all your help forum users.

Take the car back to who you bought it from and ask for your money back, if he declines ask him again with a wheel brace in your hand!

I find it normally works it also helps been 6.6ft and build like a brick s**t house.

It really annoys me that people sell crap, saying its perfect to drive.

Adam, are you available for hire? :-)

I know what you mean, why can't they just be honest (probably as we wouldn't have bought it then). It's just costing more and more money that I don't have available at the moment and can't afford to replace it either so stuck with it and all it's many faults I guess! :-(

P.s I must stress I'm not violent at all, but i don't take no for an answer.

I did have to save for it and I know at £700 it doesn't seem expensive but I took 3 months unpaid leave from work last year to look after my terminally ill mum so still trying to get back to an even footing - can't say this has really helped if I'm honest!

It may well come to it that the Wife has to take the bus to work and I take her car - unfortunately I do a 60 mile round trip every day so using the bus isn't really an option!

BIG lesson learnt from this though!

Default Headgasket Gone! - Offers?

After 'tinkering' with the car this morning, it appears there is a very large leak from the headgasket, can only assume this means it is f**ked! So am open to offers if anyone wants to buy the car and repair it. Below is the link to the car containing photos etc (please note these are not photos I have taken but one's from the previous owner).

All sensible offers considered, Wife loves this car but run out of funds to repair it so it needs to go :-(

Prices I enquired off Rufe for HT leads and coil packs. That car will have both.

Quote:
First of all thank you very much for your enquiry. Here are the current prices and order information for you for these items. The pirce below is for the HT leads as requested, but if you also require the 2x ignition coils to complete the set up then it is an additional cost to do this. To add the 2x coils [1275602 x2] will cost an extra £92.37 inc vat, but please let me know if you wish to have thee added to this order reference number.

All Prices shown Include VAT at 17.5% -
Ignition Cable Set: [1275603]
Retail Price £45.12 / Our Price £36.10
VVT stands for Variable Valve Timing, it alters the time the inlet or exhaust valves (cant remember which 1 it is at the moment) are open to get better performance/emmisions. The valves are pressed down by the camshaft which is turned by by the cam/timing belt. Its an integral part of the timing system.

Thanks for that TT82 - upon further investigation it seems that coil pack 1 & 4 fire together and 2 & 3 and they DO have 2 HT leads! This is the trouble with trying to get parts, different suppliers say different things!

Seems like I may have a bigger problem on my hands now as have noticed oil leaking fromt he head gasket! :-(
