Default Boot Lid

After cracking my head again while going into the boot, i'm thinking something is wrong here, surely the boot should open more then this!

Attachment 55650
There are two types of stays that hold the boot up on S40

The boot lid with a spoiler has the stronger type due to the lid being heavier

Check the part number:

The pics. of the gas strut is the same as lt looks the same, it can`t look any different can it?

What you are concerned about is on the right where the writing is the correct part number for your strut, then check your own strut to see if it is printed on it.

If it is and it is the wrong number then that is why your boot does not open fully.

If they are the correct numbers then the struts are knackered and want replacing, parts on a Volvo still wear out!

It`s probably because you had the wrong struts to start with as they are more powerful!!
