850 Cars: Rare Car

Hi all, new to this forum and have had my volvo for just over a year now, I love the car and love the fact I don't see other examples of my car everywhere I go, I have looked online and just can't find any other volvo 850tdi saloons up for sale so my question is, how rare is my car? And also how much is it worth (roughly) it's a 1996 N registration volvo 850 2.5tdi manual saloon with roughly 230k miles

Site: "How many left?" will tell you, provided the cars were registered correctly.

Don't equate rarity or age with value. I have the rarest V70 variant in the world, Volvo made 6 of them, and mines one of three left of the six, but it's still only worth in the hundreds. Because, lets not get too deluded here... you weren't were you? It's a clunker, an old Volvo.

Yours won't be worth much more, maybe less. ie: Old Penny Black stamps are near worthless. Can you work out why?

I know of a few tdi saloons but definitely not as abundant as the estate. This may be due to the lesser popularity of all 850 saloons. Value wise, if in really good condition and fsh, perhaps £600.

The saloons are relatively rare anyway, and they only made the TDi for the last year or so. The rarity doesn't make them valuable, and never will, but it's still nice to drive around in something that you don't see every day.

I saw this last week and funnily said don't see many of them lol

you were pulling out of the junction at inverkeithing ..it was quite sprightly 😄

IIRC the road was quite busy and I had to do a bit of an adventurous manoeuvre to join it. It is quite quick off the mark, it stayed with a manual T5 (also a saloon) for the first half of the 1/4 mile at Crail last year. Not so much for the second quarter though.

I ran my TDi estate at York last year.
Bone standard, over 300k on the clock, original clutch and managed to get a 16.7.
I was more made up with that than beating my personal best in the auto S70 at 15 seconds dead!

You all need a good remap then you might be able to keep up with the T5 all the way!
