I had a demo XC90D5 last week. When I strayed near the white lines on the motorway it made a noise from the speakers, but did nothing with the steering. On my XC90 (with intellisafe and Xenium), when I stray near the white lines on the motorway the car tries to steer back away from the line. If I hold the wheel and carry on, then the wheel vibrates to warn me. On your car you said that when you ran over a white line you initially thought that there was something wrong with it as it vibrates. So, some XC90's have self steering (ie the wheel moves or vibrates) and some don't (ie you just get an audible warning). Now, and this is the point I am not sure of. I thought you only got self steering if you opted for self parking, and for self parking you need the 360 camera. Or perhaps I am barking up the wrong tree...

Apparently it's meant to be vehicle status. Ours moves about when you first start the car (well, turn it on as it's a T8, it often never "starts" during trips), and then settles down. I think it's meant to depict that it's checking things. |
