I've not driven the V40, but do have a V60. To be honest, the V60 is hardly spacious so if you have kids I cant really see the V40 being big enough, plus you may need to look ahead a bit - what about your kids getting bigger etc.
The 1.6 is OK - there are times when it feels a bit lacking, but on the whole its adequate. If you dont pay for your fuel then it wont matter, but don't expect to get anywhere near the claimed figures. My driving should give it a fairly good chance at getting close to the book figures, but I'm way off and pretty disappointed. Best I have managed is 47 mpg on a tank, and my average is now around 44. Last thing I would add is think really hard about R-Design spec. It looks good, but the ride is truly awful and left me thinking that I cant wait for it to go back in November. My wife likes the car, but also hates the ride, and colleagues who have been passengers have commented on how firm the ride is |

Thank you all for your responses. I can confirm I have opted for the V60 with the D3 engine due to the fact of the D2 not the best for power and I do around 25k-30k miles per year and the firm ride on the V40 r-design put me off. Hopefully I have made the correct decision but with the majority opting for the V60 also am sure I have and thanx for the input everyone.

Good choice. If I was doing that many miles in my V60 I would want the bigger engine and the better ride so I think you have made a good choice.
Interesting that you found the ride in the V40 firm - I may try a V40 r-design to compare with the V60 |
