V40 or V60???
Hello,
I am looking for a bitt of help in deciding my company car i have the choice between the V40 and V60 but am tore and cannot come to a concrete conclusion. I have listed below the specs and options on each. V60 ESTATE 1.6 D2 115HP BUSINESS EDITION SEASHELL METALLIC PAINT HEATED FRONT SEATS DARK TINTED WINDOWS FAMILY PACK V40 HATCH 1.6 D2 R-DESIGN NAV CASPIAN BLUE METALLIC OR REAR PARK ASSIST CRUISE CONTROL DARK TINTED WINDOWS WINTER PACK RAIN SENSE AS REQUIRED WITH WINTER PK I have a young family and the V60 attracted me due to the space and intregrated booster seats but the V40 is also nice looking and has good interior trim and tft display due to being r-design. The cost difference in company car tax is around £19.00 per month better off with the V40 although overall cost is higher on P11D value the V40 D2 CO2 is 94g/km while the V60 D2 CO2 is 119g/km. Please give me your individual opinions or car choice please |

I like both although the V60 is more 'old hat'
If you do not need the space I would go for the V40. I have not driven a V40, although have sat in one. I have experience though with the V60 in 1.6d auto,(powershift) and the S60 in 1.6d manual form and also T3 form. The s60's are great, probably because they are manual ( I am not a fan of Volvo autos) although the V60 is still a great estate car. Not the biggest estate, although very usable. Regards Edit:Looking at your figures it seems more or less 'even stevens' Last edited by volvorocks; Feb 26th, 2013 at 21:39. |

The V60 is obviously bigger bit still not massive, however unless you really need the V60s extra room I'd go for the V40, I know looks are subjective but they look the biz in R Design trim and the interior is lovely, also being lighter it should be a bit better on diesel and more sprightly when needed, I drove a D2 V40 and found the power to be adequate, nothing earth shattering though.

You mention you have a young family and that equals space required. On that basis alone I would go for the V60. Then you can throw in prams, travel cots, general gubbins without having to place them in as per the V40. The V40 is lovely mind, I am not against it, I am just thinking in terms of when my kids were younger and boot space became a bit of an obsession.

V60 - I found the space in the V40 frankly tight and that is coming from a C30 owner!

V60
The V40 is a cramped compact car trying to mimic an estate but doesn't even get in the near of it. For a family totally out of place. If you were a >50 year old married man looking for a daily driver, then yes, V40. Otherwise: V60...

V60 for sure
I am about to choose a new company car and have also looked at both.
Personally, i think V40/Golf/Focus too small for a family or when you sometimes need to lug something about or like me, commute a fair distance to work. V60 for me is a small, classy estate. V60 every time and it will do everything. |
