Default Car Charger DAB intereference

I have a very bizarre problem... When I plug in my phone to charge (using a standard USB cigarette lighter charger) it interferes with the DAB signal and reduces the signal quality!

This is the same charger and phone i used in my previous car and which had no affect on DAB radio.

Does anyone else use a USB charger which doesn't cause this problem? And if so can you link me to which one so I can buy one.

Thanks.

Is there a reason you don't just use the USB socket ( maybe using that for an iPod I suppose ) rather than the cigarette lighter ?

I would be looking at the charger which fits in the power socket , there are many dubious ones around , ie no interference supression to keep costs down .

I'm sure that's the case (bit odd how it worked in the old car though. Interested to hear which one other people use without problems and I can buy one of those (incidentally, the one i'm using is a griffin powerjolt, so not a no-name POS)

I got mine from here and it still works fine even after 12 months and no interference. Long retractable cable means I can charge from rear passenger 12V without rendering the cup holders in centre console useless by the charger itself.

http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/retractab...pod-p33715.htm or this one with micro USB http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/olixar-re...ort-p33716.htm

Maybe a slightly better quality one will give you a better experience - lots to choose from and good reviews.....and of course there are lots of other sellers out there and have no affiliation with this company but have found the stuff I've bought to be good.

When I plug my iPad in for charging at home it knocksed out the dab signal to the radio near the socket - solution was to move the charging plug and cable away from the dab radio.

I am on the edge of decent dab signal and some devices can be electrically very noisy as suggested by others. I also have some 220v LED lights that kill the dab within 5metres.

try the power socket in the back seat, or copy the music to the hard disc drive - either might solve the issue

Came across this today when using my USB charger plug in the armrest socket.

All ok when plugged into the dedicated USB socket.

Incidentky I'm having trouble with choppy Bluetooth streaming and hoping that this is the cause? Further investigation to follow.

I've got a Belkin charger that fits in the 12V power socket next to the cupholders & get no issues.

The reason I bought it is the diddy size & you can unplug the cable & attach different devices (provided they are USB).

Think it was about a tenner from Tesco

You've got a crap charger. I charge my phone from the cupholder socket and the DAB works fine.
