Powershift transmison issues (Volvo S40- 2.0D)

Hello everyone, as soon as I registered on the forum, I hope you are all well. I have a small problem with the volvo s40 (2010 automatic - powershift), I encountered the error: "TCM-0421 Shift Fork 2 Blocked, Other Shift Forks Didn't Move" on diagnosis. The transmission remains locked in second gear (2), does not go up to 3, and if I go up to 4000rpm it goes into 4th gear. And sometimes the reverse doesn't work. What can be the causes?

I have the same car and transmission dating from 2008... I've read lots of docs about the powershift gear box - I also have its PDF repair manual. if you are interested, just let me know.

Genearlly speaking, when a similar issue comes up, one fisrt thhing one may do is to dismantle the mecatronic , separating it from the box, taking it out , and clean it thoroughly with compressed air adn stuff. Then change oil and filter - the box should go much better.

I had a problem with the Powershift fitted in my daughters Galaxy.

It would only manually select 1, 3, 5 and reverse. When the gearbox man took the mecatronic off the gearbox he found that a small magnet had fallen off one of the selector forks so the gearbox did not know to change gear.

Having said that the gearbox is very weak unless regularly maintained with oil changes.

Our Australian cousins have taken some kind of class action against Ford over the gearbox failures and Ford have been fined $10m dollars. In typical frank Australian way they miss the f out of the name!
