Hants/Dorset border for me. I regularly see another blue 940 almost identical to mine, plus a red Torslanda (well, it has the black racing stripes) that someone uses as a daily driver. All these on the A338. Occasional spots of a silver D-reg (I'm guessing 240) plus another silver'n'black 240 saloon lives just up the road from me. All in good nick too.

I’m often in Fordingbridge as my Karting team-mate lives there...there’s a chap not far from you with a breaker’s yard full of classic Volvos, I bought a towbar for my petrol 940 from him. Fascinating fella who knows just about everything about our cars!

Could you please give more detail of that breaker's location?
Thanks.

7/9 series are very few and far between up here in Northumberland but whilst walking our dog this morning saw a P... ... regd. 940 estate parked outside the stables just about 150 yards from our house. Bodywork appeared in much better condition than my ‘92 940 estate. Tailgate bore the logos “940” and “2.9”, I cannot recall ever seeing it before now. It wasn’t possible to introduce myself to the user/owner.

A 2.9 940??? Didn't know such an animal existed! I wonder if someone has shoehorned in a B6304 under the bonnet of a 940 for a sleeper?

That puzzled me also which is why I mentioned it. I thought that the logo would possible read “960” but I looked again and it was definitely “940”.

I know sometimes i've seen a 940 with a "2.3" badge on the tailgate and because of the font it has appeared at first glance to be "2.9".

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284280263380

A photo from the listing linked above ^^^^^ showing exactly what i mean, as the "2.3" is italicised, the top right curve of the "2" causes an optical illusion of "joining" the top and cross bars of the "3" making it look like a "9". The listing confirms it's a 2.3 so perhaps this is the reason?

It wouldnt make much sense to put the 2.9 in a 940 either as it's only 3mph faster and 0.2 seconds quicker 0-60 over a 940HPT in standard format

Out of interest Mark, do you happen to know the kerb weights of a 940HPT and say a 960 top of the range with all the toys?

Just wondering how much extra weight the 960 is carrying, not that it makes much difference on the top end but might on acceleration.

960 executive is listed as 1648kg curb
940 HPT 1350kg curb

960 top speed 131mph 0-60 9.1 sec
940 hpt top speed 127mph 0-60 9.3 sec ( 940 sport has t+ and hits 190 bhp so will be quicker than 960 ) I think the sport was possibly 8.7 sec 0-60
