Default New arrival...

Why have one high mileage diesel when you can have two?

Picked up a 2004 V40 1.9D today locally, to match the 2002 S40 1.9D that I've now had for 18 months and love.

Higher mileage than my saloon at 203,000 but the engine sounds brand new. Couple of minor bits to sort out cosmetically and the brakes are also fluctuating but still pulls up nice and straight.

You have an undamaged egg crate grille, that's worth its weight in gold haha.

I can't work out if the discoloration is on the inside or the outside of that indicator, but I might have one if you need, i know I do have one, but I'm unsure which side it is, saw it in the shed the other day.

That was one of the first things I spotted! It will be transplanted to the S40 at some point unless I miraculously find one in the scrapyard that isn't damaged when I next go rummaging.

Its inside, it's done the usual thing of the lens coming away from the rest of the unit so that is indeed on the list to do.

Turns out the brake discs are warped at right angles judging by the sound and involuntary violent foot and hand massage when braking from a higher speed

The t4 has the same lense problem, they don't take on water as such yet but they are both full of condensation, a bit of hairdryer action as some fresh sealant is on my to do list as well, as is fitting new front brakes, due to the same awful judder that you describe, I only fitted new disks in April as well, they do say buy cheap and buy twice, it's having Volvo disks this time.

Make sure its not the caliper sticking or that you keeping your foot on the brake at a traffic light after a spirited drive. That will warp even Volvo discs 😁

Picked up new discs and pads today incidentally from GSF, trying Bendix ones which is a brand I haven't used before.
