Yes they must have been, I was simply pointing out the fact the brakes will stay on and require power to take them off or dismantling the motors and winding off to move the car as well as putting gear box into neutral. Unless you can connect up another battery where it stands.

Maybe those that reported on the forum they needed a crane lift will respond to let you know why.

Not necessarily. The key blade will only open the passenger door so if the car is parked close to a wall or other obstruction there's no way in.

I've thought about this because when the car is in my garage the passenger door is against a wall.

And how on earth a crane can lift it if is close that you can not open the passenger door?

Not dissimilar to the Toyota, but then manufacturers do have to offer simple solutions to problems that the average owner will be able to carry out.

I think you are writing to the wrong person!?!? I haven't asked anything which could have annoyed you! The message you have quoted has been to the person who wrote something before thinking!

Actually I did think, unlike yourself who has jumped to the wrong conclusion. I merely pointed out, for the benefit of others, that parking with an obstruction close to the passenger side means that you cannot use the key blade to get into the car. Most people will wrongly assume that you use the driver's door for access.

Matter closed.

Please show me exactly where is my wrong conclusion? If you read all the responses you will see nu11eaf mentioned that some cars have been lifted by cranes. So to be lifted by cranes that's mean they could have been able to open the door with the detachable key blade, but the problem hasn't been flat battery only.

By the way if don't know just to let you know why the lock is at the passenger door, because that is the driver's door (which cannot be blocked if you have stepped out of the car before that) in most of the countries where Volvo have the biggest market sales and they don't bother to change it!

I keep a strong plastic straw in the cubbyhole where the 'hole' is to facilitate the release of the gear lever.
When in the garage I always park my cars in neutral with the handbrake off and lock the car. This means I can push the car in and out for cleaning and getting 'stuff' out of the very small garage without starting the engine and upsetting the DPF.
The S90 will not lock in neutral so I use the straw as a 'getaround' to achieve what I need. Once you know where the hidden lever is it is relatively easy to do and the straw limits the damage that may be done by pocking around in the dark with a metal screwdriver.
I am sure there is a good and valid reason for not being able to lock the car in neutral but it evades me for now. If you know why or have an opinion 'silly' or otherwise feel free to chip in. I like silly!!!
