1st Gen V70R AWD Limited slip diff?
I've read that the V70R AWD has an LSD but I was wondering if someone could give me a bit more detail about it?
For example does it have one simply by virtue of the viscous coupling or is it a separate system? I also read somewhere that only the manuals had them, which would suggest that ours (as an automatic) doesn't?

Gizza job - I can do that

You're correct in that the 'lsd' that the R variants have is, in fact, a viscous coupling on the offside driveshaft - and only the manual cars have this.
To be honest, I'm not absolutely sure about the awd cars as mine is 2wd and I'm more familiar with that setup - but I am sure the autos had no lsd or viscous coupling regardless of 2wd/awd.

I may have answered my own question on this one by looking up the 1997 Volvo AWD literature; which states that the AWD model (and therefore I would assume also the R AWD model) has a limited slip diff which operates on the rear wheels.
