Kent Police V90 being prepped

Looks fairly standard for a Police build particularly on a new model when almost everything is stripped out whilst decisions are made where the wiring and equipment will go. Can involve some trial and error but once agreed with the user the next ones will be much easier and quicker.

Manufacturers do a certain amount of work but each force has different needs and equipment so the strip and fit is different for each force.

Not always true some manufacturers will do customised emergency vehicle specifications.

BMW do, so the previous and new 5 series models and X5 are not off the shelf dealership cars - the 5 series for example are all 530D, cloth interiors and some gear installed at factory to reduce time later down the line. BMW will even do all the base graphics from factory!

Additionally certain safety systems will not be installed at all or turned off for operational reasons.

That's been on most tuesdays recently at 730 on ITV1, not sure how long the series runs for. They also cover the Scilly Isles and i don't think there are any Volvos there, could be worth watching again to see what else pops up!

There are now a few out in the wild.

Thanks to Twitter though, to save everyone checking the number plate it is a diesel. I suspect it will be the D5 (or could it be a D4?) with probably Polestar...looking at the figures BHP wise one would think that it would be D5 though (F11's were 530d's with about 258, a D5 would be 240)

Looks like vascar, good that they have managed to integrate with the car though rather than bolt on a bunch of extra screens.

look like a D4 because of the 8 inch display? Anyway, D4 is more than sufficient to outrun most of the car on the motorway

It's a D5. Probably weighs a few bit over stock with all the equipment. Wonder how it will fare compared to the more powerful BMWs they could have gone for.
