Default Speed limit in France. Gov charity donations ;)

A wee reminder for those venturing to France this summer.
The national speed limit will be changed from 90kph to 80kph. Hope you all have cruise control and get the GPS updated.

In its self a little irritating but combine with the recent whole hearted embracing of speed cameras and a breath taking sliding scale for spot fines.

The French treasury loves Le Mans, well the motorway from Calais to Le Mans.

Have fun

The figures for the AutoRoute remain unchanged and the OP is talking about non motorway roads.https://www.aph.com/community/holida...isk-fines-650/

80kph or 50mph blanket limit on a French AutoRoute would be a fatal recipe I would suggest.

To clarify, the motorway speed limits (dry & wet) remain unchanged, it is the limit on single-carriageway roads without a central barrier and outside towns which is being lowered from 90 to 80kph from July 1. The government has also just started using unmarked private cars with mobile speed cameras on board to catch offenders.

Default Driving permit in Cities

Another revenue generator is the clean air permit. Cant drive into certain cities without it. Its only about 5 euro and can be processed online. But a 110 Euro fine if your in the city without one.

https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/news/mot...french-cities/

Regarding unmarked cars and speed cameras, they had a Black Ford Focus around Pas de Calais with heavy tinted rear windows and 2 windows cut in the tail gate.

The natives were as much annoyed at gov money being spent on a non French car as the sneaky sneaky speed trap.

I'm very disappointed with the French. I was hoping, given their attitude to things they dont like, that these stealth cars would get trashed by now.

Whats the world coming to?

Surely must be the grounds for a strike & a blockade of the Ferry Ports.

Seems to be every other change to the laws in France is.
