Default v40 suspension

hi, ive got a 99 1.6 v40xs, but it has a prob ie the front end sits really high up compared to the back ive looked at other v40s and mine seems to be the only one, ive looked at the springs and they all seem fine nothing broken and no clunking, could it be some idiot fitted second hand front legs off some thing else and made it sit to high as soon as this prob is sorted ile tell you about the other probs lol but despite the engine being horrid and the suspension being wierd i really like the car.

Hiya , I've got the same model V40 as you and also the same odd looking suspension, my motor also sits high at the front, not sure what you mean by "horrid" engine but you do have to work the 1.6 engine to make the car go due to the weight of the car and a relatively small engine, one consolation is you have got a 100% Volvo, check out the plate riveted to the bulkhead behind the engine.

It was a common thing on phase one s/v40's the front ends sitting higher than rears,

Mostly seems to affect sports models but some others suffered,

I just replaced my spring with a set of eibach ones, it made it so much nicer to drive

im ordering some lowering springs but the front looks way to high

does this pic help explain, the rear looks right and im worried if i fit lowering springs the rear will be really low but the front will look lower but still be high compared to the back.
as for the engine it makes a racket at about 2000 revs and its slow (as expexted really) but what makes it worse is the fact ive got such poor fuel economy my mondeo 2.0 drank as much fuel, im considering putting the 1.8 engine in as ive been told its fairly easy.
