Cleaning car door interior
I have some scuff marks on the inside of the door (from boots and shoes) on the 'textured' beige panels of the door and I have tried scrubbing with Fairy Liquid to get the marks off, but whilst this has taken most of it off I cannot seem to get the marks it the bottom of the texturing out
I don't want to scrub with anything to hard as I don't want to damage the textured finish - anyone any suggestions how to clean this rough(ish) surface and get the dirt out of the bottom of the texture without damaging the entire surface? Hopefully this is clear - have to admit I am not sure how to descibe the surface on the door panels Thanks Iain |

Toothbrush with a little detergent and some patience would remove the dirt, if you have scuffed the texture then very very lightly give it a rub with a green kitchen pad ( please be very gentle here ). Once dry apply a couple of coats of a vinyl conditioner, Armor-all is my favourite but Auto Glym rubber and vinyl care is also very good |

I would not use anything harsh or abrasive - my last car had Parchment leather and off white plastics and I used All Purpose Cleaner (D101) e.g. Daisy APC can be purchased from Tesco and a Microfibre cloth and try removing the marks this way. If the plastic is scuffed, it is likely to be a permanent feature unless you opt for one of these "Smart" repairs.

Best thing I've found to clean the interior (and more or less anything for that matter...!) are magic sponges - do a search on a well know auction web site. They get more or less anything off anything, just with a bit of water.
Used them on leather seats too for years and they come up a treat - even the 'soft' cream leather in my current XC90. Don't go too mad with them though as they are very slightly abrasive, and always treat the leather with eg Liquid Leather afterwards. Also very good at getting brake dust off alloys. And limescale off shower cubicles. And crayon off walls... Last edited by Rockhopper; Mar 25th, 2010 at 09:19. |

Rockhopper - any chance of a direct link to the sponge you refer too? There are so many on this well know site () and they are all different
If they are as good as you say then I could use some for the showers in my house - kids are good at making them dirty, not so clever at cleaning them up Iain |

These are the kind of thing. They don't last too long as they disintegrate with use. Great little things though.
