Water dripping from middle of car.
Hi.
I have an xc90 05 d5. I have a water leak from almost the middle of the car. And i mean middle length and width. It is definitely radiator water and not ac water as i have not got the ac on. Also the coolant reservoir is empty. I have had this car for a while now and i have never had to add coolant. I have just had car back from gearbox specialist who have rebuit the autobox. Do you think they could have damaged something. Or is it possible that it standing (due to isolation) for 9 weeks could have perished a pipe What could be leaking that far away from anything i can think of. Your thoughts would be great. Cheers Dave |

If you're sure it is coolant, then I would look for a heater matrix leak.

It's dripping from inside the engine bay area ? Can be several things, loose coolant tank hose- or even a small crack in the coolant tank. Could also be a loose or broken block drain peacock (behind the block), or the coolant hoses to the firewall are not properly secured, or some hose clamp not tight enough, plenty of things. Transmission repair means the engine is removed, so everything has to be disconnected. Head back to the garage perhaps on a tow or refill with distilled water (only) and see if you can drive before you get the low coolant message on the dash. If it doesn't leak too bad, have a gallon inside the car to top it up
