Question B4204T to B4204S Conversion

Hi all,

I have a 1999 S40 with a B4204T with a blown head gasket - the temperature gauge didn't go up and unbeknown to me, the radiator busted whilst I was driving so all the coolant leaked out and I kept driving (again the temperature was normal because the coolant wasn't even getting to the sensor)

Anyway, I have a 1998 V40 with a really good B4204S (low kms) engine but the V40 has rear end damage beyond repair so I want to take out the B4204S from the V40 and put it in my S40.

Has anyone ever done this or if not can anyone tell me what needs to be changed besides the actual engine? Will my current ECU and IMM work with the B4204S engine?

Thanks in advance.

It is possible, but it will involve many many bits. Another member here (Matt86) converted a petrol 1.8 to a 1.9D.
Things you would need to change
Engine and all auxiliaries, gearbox, driveshafts, front hubs, downpipe and catalytic converter, lambda sensors, engine bay wiring loom, wiring loom behind the dashboard, ECU, immobiliser, lock alarm module, all locks, radiator

And maybe a few more bits I missed

The transmissions are identical. Is there a reason why I can't split the engine from the transmission and leave driveshafts and wheel hubs in place?

I don't know as I haven't removed either engine or transmission yet.

Are you alluding that the input into the flywheel will be different on both the two engines?

Default Conversion B4204t to B4204S

Dear,
I have a V40 with a B4204T engine with a bad block and pistons but with a new head. I got an all good B4204S engine and I want to install it. I see that there is a difference in the VVT where in the B4204T engine the VVT is in the exhaust and in the B4204S engine the VVT is in the intake.
Has anyone here already made this modification, or can help me with the solution?
