Fault code
Hi,
A while back my car started to report a P2172 fault. I was advised that due to rough idling whilst cold the ETM probably could do with repairing as rough idling is associated with a faulty ETM in the case of a V70. So I recently had my Magnetti Mirelli ETM repaired were the throttle position sensor was changed with a contactless one. I was then advised that the fault was most probably caused by the faulty ETM and, since it was now repaired, wouldn’t return. Well it has popped it’s ugly head up again, a P2172 code that is, “throttle actuated controls system - Sudden high air flow detected” and the dashboard sports a message saying “Engine System Urgent Service”. Has any of you clever guys got any idea what is going on? Thanks!

Hi
Unfortunately I don’t have an answer for you but I am getting the same codes currently and I’m just wondering did you find/cure it? |

Since "...high air flow was detected", I'd consider cleaning the MAF sensor. I'd also inspect for splits or other sources of leakage in the air intake hoses.
Couldn't hurt. |
