MY21 Key Fobs

Apparently the MY21 Key Fobs can't be 'fooled' by criminals into unlocking the car and allowing it to be driven away in the way that current keyfobs can.

I'd imagine we can use the MY21 keyfobs with older cars and thereby make our cars more secure.

Anyone tried this?

Anyone know the part numbers for the MY21 keyfobs that have this feature? Both the standard fob and the sports fob?

Any idea of prices? I see in the Sports fob battery drain thread there is talk of it costing £260 for a new fob and for this to e paired to the car.

My car was only ordered after week 46 and delivered 3 weeks ago. Does that mean my keys will already have this advanced security?

My understanding it is a MY21 change. If your car is MY20 then it is not included?

It was delivered Dec 20th and registered Dec 24th.. So would be tight.

If you look on your Volvo On Call app it tells you the model year at the top of your home page. Well, mine does anyway!

vstore.nl was the only non-Volvo site I could find with this - they're quoting €295, so about £250, for it - seems quite expensive as a retro-fit option to me.

Given that an radio shielding pouch costs about £3 I'm tempted to use the old fashioned method.

The sports key question is interesting in that I wonder if you get charged for a new fob at the end of your 2/3y lease?
