Default Need new tyres - who to go to?

My MY18 XC60 needs new tyres; they are the original tyres and after 59,000 miles they are now close to the legal minimum.

i have been fortunate in not requiring tyres or tyre work for a few years. In the past I have used a local Kwik Fit who have done an OK job. We also have a local Costco which sells tyres.

Any recommendations on who to use (not necessarily Kwik Fit or Costco)? I am not necessarily looking for the absolute cheapest option, just somewhere that will do a good job at a reasonable price.

There are a number of online tyre suppliers who will deliver tyres to a local fitting centre or have their own mobile fitting service.

I have used mytyres and openeo in the past with good results - there are others, blackcircles for example - if you do an internet search, you will find a number of such sites.

It’s always useful to check their prices and then compare them to your local KwikFit etc.

Good hunting!

I don't know which part of Greater Manchester you are in, but I have friends who always use SK14 Tyres in Dukinfield. They are a small local business with a good reputation.

May seem strange, but I always use my local Volvo dealership, Riverside. After getting a few prices I give them a call and they are always happy to match or beat the quoted prices.

Have used Tyre Leader plus a local fitter for best price, and also Costco for convenience & price. Both options worked well but clearly demonstrated significant saving can be achieved by doing some research in advance of purchase. As an aside I suggest you photograph each wheel at your chosen fitting centre ahead of fitting as clear evidence of undamaged alloy wheels. I was able to avoid a lot of wrangling when the damaging of a wheel was denied by the fitter but I had pictures taken with another member of staff - wheel was repaired at their cost.

I recently used Tyre Shopper https://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk/ (albeit not for the Volvo) and they were not only the cheapest but also offered a free mobile fitting service, which I used and was very happy with!

I've used Blackcircles before with good results, reasonably priced too. Although when one particular brand is on offer somewhere, it's on offer everywhere!

Have had issues with mobile fitting in that the balancing has been poor. That was on a previous car which was quite suseptible to wheel balancing.

Thanks Moonlanders. Dukinfield is only around 20 minutes from me. I will contact them.

Check Camskill.co.uk who are always very good prices.

For Michelin Latiude Sport 3 235/60 R 18 103V they are currently quoting £108.80 per tyre plus £8 for delivery. You need to allow £10-15 for for fitting and old tyre disposal
