i have been fortunate in not requiring tyres or tyre work for a few years. In the past I have used a local Kwik Fit who have done an OK job. We also have a local Costco which sells tyres.

Any recommendations on who to use (not necessarily Kwik Fit or Costco)? I am not necessarily looking for the absolute cheapest option, just somewhere that will do a good job at a reasonable price.
I would buy from local tyre depots that I know and trust, but you really can't go wrong with Costco. They are sticklers for using correct techniques and torque settings. Very high standards kept. To be honest Costco offer of a far higher standard of work than my local independents or chain depots, but my 'local' Costco is exactly 100 miles away, one way.

I would echo Quacker.

Costco are good value and seem to have the correct level of OCD.

I have had both cars done by them and the prices were hard to beat as long as you know what tyres you want. Always book and pay online as it is cheaper than in store.

Costco are good, but also Kwik Fit also can do good prices if you get a quote online from them first, they are often similar to the other big online specialists like Blackcircles. Just don't go straight in to the shop as in my experience that's when they start by asking for silly money.

Default Costco

I find Costco offer reasonable prices, only offer premium tyres like Michelin and are open in the evenings so I can get them fitted after work.

They have the option of Nitrogen inflation, but they don't do wheel alignment.

Agree, they are great.

Is that just for the c20% of air that isn't nitrogen? Sorry

What? Next you'll be saying that oxygen-free copper cables that conduct digital signals better in one direction don't give superior sound and vision...

A few years ago before I had a Volvo I had a Saab 95 Aero, that car ate tyres.
I ordered some tyres from Black Circles and had the tyres fitted at the local Black Circles agent.

After the deal was done, was chatting to the fitter/manager at the Black Circles agentcy who suggested that next time I needed new tyres I get a quote from Black Circles and then go direct to the agent to get the tyres and he will beat the Black Circles price.

Re the benefit of nitrogen versus compressed air.
Just ask Google / DuckDuck Go etc or other web search tool
and read the various answers and then make your own decision.

That is exactly what I did recently when needed tyres for the motorhome and I got a pretty good deal for camper specific tyres which are usually pretty pricey....
