Child seats xc60
Hi there.
We have a volvo xc60, Purchased in October 2012. We bought the car with the family pack which has two built in booster seats. We have 3 children, our 2 older children aged 4 and 7 use the boosters, child 3 is currently in the middle seat in her infant carrier. The baby is now too big for the infant carrier and having been to halfords today to peruse carseats we have a problem. The 'expert' fitting the carseat says volvo seats are not very deep and therefore they dont appear to have a carseat that would be compatible. We need a carseat slim enough to fit between the two booster cushions, but also as volvo carseats are not very deep, we were told the carseat that we liked overhung the footwell too much and therefore couldnt be used. Do you know of any carseats that are both compatible in the middle seat, as well as ones which sit legally and safely without the overhang? With the specifications we have, and rules Halfords have, there was no seat there that we could buy. We are limited to a Mothercare or Halfords locally where we can try the seats. |

Hi.
No independent ones nearby sadly. The maxi cosi SPS fit like a glove with space either side for the older ones to access their seatbelt fastening. The overhang was 4 fingers deep, instead of apparently the required 2. The seat was rock solid upon checking. There were no other seats which didnt have the overhang either. Left with no carseat and was told to call volvo. Basically irrespective of the middle seat, even if we were using one of the side seats, the maxi cosi wouldnt be suitable. |

just an idea...but have you looked at some of the seats that fit onto a base...i.e. the base might fit between the rasied seats

This link on Volvo child safety has a solution for you if the child is below 13kg or between 15-36kg, however the seat for 9-25kg is not suitable for the middle rear seat.
