Body/Trim: - Rear Seat

After the saga with the trailing arm I now have the car back, as said in a different thread. I wanted to be back on the road for the weekend so a few bits and pieces were left to be sorted out next week. One of them is the position of the rear seat squab. It just hasn't settled easily into the bracket on the LH side, the RH is fine. They'll see to it but I just wondered if I might be able to find out what the problem is.

It looks as if the seat is slightly too far to the right, so is there any sideways adjustment - Haynes is singularly unhelpful, just mentioning releasing spring clips. Also the LH side appears too high and it's obviously putting strain on the bracket when it's forced on.

Has anyone had to take out the seat, and if so is it an easy job? I don't like having it as it is if for no other reason than that the dog guard won't clip in on that side.

As before folks, advice and information welcome!

Hi Angie , I had to remove the seats previously .
I don't know if it differs from year to year ,but basically there is a wire/bar (about 6mm diameter) that is the outer frame to the seat base and back.
This is held to the body by square shaped hooks. They are similar for the base.

Two of the hooks can be seen here (yellow circles)

There have been descriptions of this job requiring the front seat removal for space putting your back against the seat base and pulling up with arms and pushing with legs against the floor .
Sounded like a hernia waiting to happen !

I found the frame was mailable enough to bend sufficiently to be pulled free of the clips .
I think there are 3 clips in four positions seat back; top and bottom.
Base :front and back.
I had more pics but may have deleted them from my phone.

People who take pictures of things as they work on their cars do a great service to everyone else!

After all my ramblings here I thought I'd investigate further before trying to remove the seat - I should have said it's a Torslanda, by the way, not a saloon, so possibly different fittings. Anyway once I looked properly with the seat down and up it seemed everything was ok until it actually started to clip in place. Then revelation, I noticed that the striker plate (if that's what it's called) was positioned differently from the other side. Whoever removed it, they needed to remove the trim for the welding, didn't replace it the right way around. I suppose my design background teaches me to notice such things, but anyway, a few minutes later the striker was repositioned and the seat nicely clicked in place. A comment will be made to mechanic, though it might possibly have been the young apprentice who actually did that bit so I suppose I should be forgiving!
