Hazard Warning Issue
Hi all
I'll start this by saying I know pretty much nothing about car electronics, My car is due its MOT so I was going through everything to make sure it would pass, I turned on my hazard warning switch and it started making a buzzing noise and doesn't activate the indicator lights, I also noticed the seatbelt warning light went off while the hazard switch was active, I think its shorting somewhere, Any ideas where the problem is likely to be or the best place to start looking? https://imgur.com/a/n65b0vU The link should go to a short video showing what happens when I press the hazard switch, make sure to switch audio on Thanks Kallum |

Hi:~
The seat belt warning light & clicking should revert to a slower action when the hazards/indicator switch is also on. You will find a solenoid for the above under-behind the clove box- remove the trim panel and you should find it (memory loss if the glove box needs removing? quite straight forward though) I would check the switch first i.e. rear wiring and the internals- they can be opened carefully but watch out for small parts flying (opening in a clear plastic bag may help) if everything seems ok- do a test with a 12v bulb then it is likely to be a fault in the solenoid- you should be able to pick one up from a factors as they are nothing that special. Trust it helps Bob. (The manual will show the location or google for pictures etc.) Last edited by Bob Meadows; Oct 17th, 2020 at 14:22. |

Are the indicators all working OK?
Is there a bulb failed? Is there a faulty earth connection? I tend to guess that an auto electrician could sort this quickly and therefore at low cost. I am doing less auto DIY ... life has always been short ... Good luck. . |

Please don't pay too much attention to my post. I'm getting far less inclined to actually doing jobs on my car. There are more enthusiastic members. Bob has already started giving some advice. Good luck. . . |

https://1drv.ms/b/s!Ask6E_1jz4xIgYVR...RwVjA?e=mj3VpI ... I'll leave the link up for a couple of days, so download a copy for yourself. pp92 and pp96; it all looks pretty straightforward and shouldn't take long with a multimeter to find the fault. It sort of has to be either a switch or a relay (unless someone has cut into the wiring somewhere). Bob's advice is good - start unplugging things (switches and relays) one at a time (and reconnect afterwards) to see if the problem goes away. Above all: be methodical (and make notes of what you do). Good fortune. Alan PS. Bob and I have just arrived back from his first walk, so I've had a look at the two cct diagrams. First check fuse 9 (unique to the hazard warning) - take it out and they shouldn't work - if they still work the switch is being powered up somehow by the wire from fuse 13 (common to the seat belt warning). If that is okay check the continuity/discontinuity of the wires from fuse 13 (probably blue/red) - that may be common and so is a suspect). If that is okay then check the hazard switch (as Bob said...) und so weiter... through the system. Last edited by Othen; Oct 18th, 2020 at 07:47. Reason: Spelling error. |

Replace the relay that buzzes for the seatbelt warning as a first step
99% of the time its that |
