Default Locking failure, Buttons slugish and just twitch

HI,
the Door locking feature is now failing and the buttons cant move into the high position...I can manage to pull them up enough so the door opens.

Fortunately I have a front door key and can get in to the car.

Any help on how to go about fixing this problem would be great,

many thanks in advance,

Brendan

Model and age of car would be useful.

If it is a classic S40 1996 - 2004 most likely cause is the lock button is fouling on the door card. Cleaning and a drop of lube normally cures.

My 1992 940 was doing this a few months ago in the colder weather after not being used for a few days. The immobiliser would activate and deactivate but the central locking would not lock or unlock unless I used the key in the driver’s door lock. Charging the car’s battery for 24 hours seemed to cure it. It’s not happening now in this warmer weather and the car is being used a little more so the battery is being charged.
I had suspected that the ageing locking linkages may need some lubrication but haven’t done anything about that yet.
